Pray. Wait. Trust.
I was gifted a small garland with these three words and how they have resonated with me multiple times over the years. Michael and I both grew up with a strong faith so praying, waiting, and trusting was something we knew. We prayed, waited, and trusted for kids, for jobs, for next steps, and so much more after we were married.
These are the words that led us to Mustard Seed Faith.
We prayed for our next steps and for guidance as we navigated a new chapter in life. We waited, not sure if this was it - did we really want to jump in feet first without knowing the depth of the water? As we saw doors closed, we trusted. We trusted that God would provide and lead us. I trusted those images I kept seeing in my mind could and would be brought to life.
Matthew 17:20 says ,“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” So, here we are with full trust in God and that our waiting and praying has come to fruition by beginning Mustard Seed Faith.
As I saw what needed created, I knew that each item had a story to tell.
Each product would be personal to our life. When I sit down to design, I know that each image will lead to a personal creation. One of the clearest images I saw was Hill Church. We were married at this beautiful, historical church that our grandfathers grew up in. It is also where our kids were baptized. While the church on the hill is no longer in use, it is this quaint little white church with stain glass windows that reminds us of the love and grace we receive from our heavenly Father. And in all honesty, churches have always been a fascination for me. There is something special about their beauty and the peace that surrounds them.
Michael and I both grew up in the rolling hills of southern Indiana where these seeds of faith were planted. Along with faith, our parents planted seeds for enjoying racing. While both of us were raised watching NASCAR, my parents always ventured to Indianapolis to watch the qualifications for the Indy 500. My mom had a heart for racing and my dad collected hat pins for each year they went. Maybe this is why Speedway felt like home the moment we walked into our first home. Now, years after moving from Speedway and after losing my mom, I cherish the last time I went along to qualifications with her and being able to keep the tradition going by taking my kids to the track.
Speaking of kids, we prayed, waited, and trusted for each of them. We have four very active kids who love soccer, swimming, dancing, reading, and so much more. It is our greatest joy to watch them grow and raise them to have hearts like Jesus.
As a family, we love to create together.
You will find us working together to create bracelets, drawings, paintings, and so many other items. They love to be a part of anything we do.
Being in nature is one way we have found to connect with God. Camping has been one of the best ways for us to get away and recharge as a family. The kids always ask when we are going again and then ask to stay when we say it’s time to pack up. When camping, we hike and enjoy campfires; these weekends are some of the best cooking we do! And there’s no better way to see and feel God than to listen to the rain patter on the top of the camper or watch so many kids laughing and running around.
Life has been full of obstacles. From that pain, loss, happiness, and joy Mustard Seed Faith was born. Creating has been a part of our family since the beginning, so stepping out with this little seed of faith brings us closer to the purpose God has set out for our family.
Above all we serve God as we learn each day and create inspiring products for others to exude a love for Jesus and others.
